My area of study is arachnology and my dissertation focuses on the biodiversity of three orb-weaving spider families. For my Mphil. I looked at the autecology of web-building spiders. However, I study a variety of spider families found in the Neotropics.

The number of spider species currently known stands at about 40,000, of a total of perhaps 170,000 species. The worldwide spider fauna is thus still far from completely known, especially in the Neotropics, northern South America and the Caribbean.
